In 1996, Frédéric Marin graduated with honors (silver medal) as an engineer in mechanical engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers, Paris (http://www.ensam.fr). Pursuing a research project at the Biomechanics Laboratory of ENSAM Paris (http://bio-web.paris.ensam.fr/), he received his PhD degree in mechanical engineering related to biomechanics in 2000. After working in industry, he joined the Institute of Orthopedic Research and Biomechanics of the University of Ulm, Germany (http://www.biomechanics.de/ufb/index.html), as a postdoctoral researcher.

In 2004, he became Associate Professor at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC) (http://www.utc.fr) at the Joint Research Unit CNRS 7338 Biomechanics and Bioengineering (http://www.utc.fr/bmbi) with main research interests on motion analysis of the human joints and musculo-skeletal modelling. In 2007, he receives Habilitation diploma (HDR) on the theme “Theoretical kinematics for Joint Biomechanics” . Since 2009, he is Full Professor (CNU 60) at the University of Technology of Compiègne at the Joint Research Unit CNRS 7338 Biomechanics and Bioengineering. Since 2011 member of Excellence laboratory Systems of systems engineering (MS2T) (http://www.utc.fr/labexms2t/) . Since 2013, associate member of Complexcity lab at Shanghai University (UTSEUS) (http://utseus.com/en/).

Teaching assignments in Mechanical engineering and biomechanics at UTC (Compiègne), Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris). Invited lecturer at   Imperial College,London, UK (2009-2012) and Northeastern University,Boston, USA (since 2013).

Elected secretary general of the Francophone Society of Biomechanics since 2011 ( http://www.biomecanique.org ). Nominated member of the Regional Ethics Group since 2014.

Awards: “Best poster award” of the German Society of Biomechanics (Cologne, 2007); Caisse d’épargne “Best innovative project award” (2010); “Emerging technology award” of the French Ministery of Higher Education and Research (2012); Finalist “10 best research projects” MSC software (2014)
